Mathew Schultz is a licensed psychologist who has been practicing at Arden Woods Psychological Services since 1998. He was born and raised in rural Minnesota, obtained an undergraduate degree from Northwestern College, and received a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada, CA. He provides individual therapy to adults of all ages, and he also works with couples. He utilizes a collaborative, multifaceted therapeutic approach that provides empathic support and also incorporates skills building and cognitive strategies. He works with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress management, spiritual development, and relationship issues.
Dr. Schultz works to facilitate interpersonal growth through improving communication, conflict resolution and assertiveness/boundary setting skills. Additional areas of focus include gratitude, forgiveness, self-esteem, developing more realistic and grace-filled expectations of self and others, and improving motivation and follow-through. His ultimate therapeutic goal is to help people overcome obstacles to growth and pursuit of goals, as well as to more fully experience and enjoy their current life and relationships.
