Tanya sees clients as unique, competent, and amazing people. She views the struggles of life as challenging, and sometimes in need of guidance. She enjoys joining clients in their life’s journey–empowering strengths, unlocking mysteries, removing barriers, identifying patterns, and searching for missing insights, skills and motivations. She engages the neurological, the physiological, psychological, relational, and spiritual components of each client, both in addressing problems and in pursuit of their life goals. Tanya recognizes change, although desired, can be difficult. Thus, compassion and sensitivity are necessary in the process of changing, most especially, when transitioning becomes uncomfortable and challenging. She believes in an atmosphere that is non-judgmental and safe, allowing clients to fully engage with her in the pain and beauty of healing, recovery, and growth.

Tanya is licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor, and a Marriage and Family Therapist.  She works with individuals, adolescents, couples and families. Her therapeutic approach is eclectic based on the needs of each individual/couple and family. Her therapy interests include depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, relational concerns, marital distress, sexuality concerns, adolescent issues, family-of-origin issues, body-mind interconnection, as well as spiritual integration of psychology and faith.

Tanya joined Arden Woods in 2012 and is currently the clinic director. She completed her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Bethel University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Thomas University. Her previous experiences include Occupational Therapy, owning a small business, and working in women’s ministries, all of which add to the richness of her life experience and wisdom she uses in her work with her clients.

I May, I Might, I Must

If you will tell me why the fen appears impassable,

I then will tell you why I think that I can get across it if I try.
